Harrogate's Repair Café is back later this month, fixing broken household items for free.
The event is held on the third Saturday of each month at Friends Meeting House on Queen Parade - and it’s back on Saturday 17th May from 12pm until 4pm.
Visitors are invited to bring broken items such as clothing and textiles, jewellery, small appliances, furniture, electronics, toys and ornaments.
A team of volunteers will then do their best to fix the items for free.
The idea is to avoid items being thrown away “unnecessarily” when they can be repaired.

Christine Hall of the Harrogate Repair Café said:
“The Harrogate Repair Café is a neighbourhood initiative that promotes repair as an alternative to tossing things out.
“We are a non-profit making bunch of enthusiastic fixers who are trying to avoid throwing stuff into landfill unnecessarily!”
Harrogate’s Repair Café is one of over 2,500 free meeting places across the world, each equipped with tools and materials to help make any repairs needed.
Repair Cafés are located across the UK, offering free meeting places that provide tools and materials to help you make any repairs you need.
The Cafés often have expert volunteers, with repair skills in all kinds of fields.
A spokesperson for the initiative said:
“We throw away vast amounts of stuff. Even things with almost nothing wrong, and which could get a new lease on life after a simple repair.
“Knowing how to make repairs is a skill quickly lost. This is a threat to a sustainable future and to the circular economy, in which raw materials can be reused again and again.
“That’s why there’s a Repair Café! People with repair skills get the appreciation they deserve.”
