Harrogate Railway JFC makes a new home at Harrogate High School

Harrogate Railway JFC are set to make a new base at Harrogate High, using the school's pitches for their junior teams to play and train.

Harrogate Railway Junior Football Club are set to make a new base at Harrogate High, using the school's pitches for their junior teams to play and train. The first team pitch is currently located at Station View, however the junior teams at the club have longed for a place they can call home since they started in the early 80's. And now the club's partnership with Harrogate High will allow the youth teams to play and train in one location, raising awareness and aspiration for younger players to progress into older age groups and, with the Youth Development coaches now in place, the aspirational route of becoming semi-professional footballers. James Loudoun, Chariman at Harrogate Railway JFC, said:

“The club is so proud and grateful to Harrogate High for the new partnership and allowing Railway Juniors to create a home for its players.”

In addition to the new partnership with Harrogate High School, the club has also launched new ‘mini-football’ teams. These teams are free to join for the first year, as the club recognises the importance of sport in improving mental and physical health, whilst enjoying the game.

Janine Norman, Joint Head of PE at Harrogate High School, commented:

"It is great news that Harrogate Railway Juniors are using our pitches as their new base. We are looking forward to developing a relationship with the club and together supporting the next generation of talented footballers."

Harrogate High have also secured accreditation to be a FA Girls Football Hub, something Janine believes will benefit a huge number of girls across the area:

"We are very proud that Harrogate High School has secured accreditation to be a FA Girls Football Hub.

"This funding will benefit all girls in primary and secondary schools in the area as well as developing football for the girls here at our school. Perhaps some of these girls will go on to become Harrogate Railway team players!”
