A new study has revealed the top 10 areas of the UK considered to be the most "clean" - and Harrogate comes in at 7th place.
Harrogate one of the "cleanest" places in UK, study shows Harrogate has been revealed as one of the “cleanest” places in the UK, according to a new study. Research carried out by Utility Bidder analysed factors including CO2 emissions, environmental expenditure, area cleanliness and park quality. It then created a list of the top 10 towns and cities across England, Scotland and Wales. And Harrogate has been ranked as the seventh most “clean” - and the only place in Yorkshire to feature on the list. County Durham was ranked number 1, whilst Wokingham and Milton Keynes took second and third spot respectively. Harrogate received a cleanliness score of 7.01 out of 10, whilst County Durham scored 7.84. A spokesperson for Utility Bidder said:
“Living in a clean environment means a lot more than just picking up your litter, as the effects of climate change are now becoming more apparent than ever. “We are experts in the field of utilities which means we understand how important it is that business electricity suppliers do their bit to help the environment, but the truth is that we all need to make an effort to keep our planet clean.”Eco-conscious Utility Bidder also found Harrogate to be among the most “eco-conscious” places in the UK. The study looked into the most searches for ‘recycling’ and recycling-related terms per 100,000 residents. And Harrogate has been ranked as the eighth most eco-conscious, with Swansea taking top spot. Check out the research in full here. Read more local stories from Your Harrogate here.
