Harrogate named among 'best places to live' in UK

Harrogate has been named in the top ten places to live in the UK after a survey of 21,000 people across Britain.

Harrogate has been named in the top ten places to live in the UK. The "happy at home" index, now in its tenth year, asked more than 21,000 people across Britain how they feel about where they live, with measures including friendliness, and access to local amenities. And Harrogate came in third behind Hexham and Richmond-upon-Thames. Happiness measures include friendliness and community spirit, whether people feel they can be themselves, nature and green spaces, opportunities locally to develop skills and amenities, including schools, restaurants, shops and sporting facilities. Harrogate has previously ranked top in the "happy at home" index as recently as 2015, although the town came in a 9th on the survey in 2020. However the spa town has been voted as the 'best place to live in the UK' by Strutt & Parker, Yopa and The Sunday Times in recent years.
