Harrogate fairground rides to close due to Storm Arwen

Harrogate Borough Council installed a full-sized helter-skelter, Victorian carousel and ferris wheel to coincide with the festive season.

Harrogate's new fairground rides may not be open this weekend due to Storm Arwen. Harrogate Borough Council installed a full-sized helter-skelter, Victorian carousel and ferris wheel to coincide with the festive season. But strong winds are expected across the district this weekend in the form of Storm Arwen, potentially making the rides unsafe. A council spokesperson said:

"Due to the anticipated high winds, the attractions in Harrogate (Ferris wheel, carousel and helter-skelter) may not be running this weekend. "The situation will be monitored throughout."
The Met Office have issued a yellow weather warning for strong winds in the North of England this weekend.
