Eye health specialist Newmedica Harrogate has climbed 17 positions in the top 50 UK's Best Workplaces.
The 2026 list of UK businesses was announced at the Best Workplaces Awards held at Grosvenor House in London this month.
Newmedica Harrogate, based at Grove Park Court was named 28th in the large category.
The clinic offers a variety of both NHS-funded and private ophthalmology treatments including cataract surgery, YAG laser treatment, and oculoplastic surgery.
It is owned and led by the consultant ophthalmologists undertaking patient treatment as well as the operations director, Steve Kirk.
Steve said:
"As eye care professionals, our priority is looking after Harrogate’s eyesight, and fundamental to that is creating a positive environment for our team that will allow them to thrive in their chosen field.
"We ensure we’re nurturing people at every step of their professional journey, including through our apprenticeship programmes, professional development opportunities, and encouraging strong career progression.
"We know that the way to do our best for our patients starts with doing the best for our employees, and it’s wonderful to see we have been recognised for this, climbing even higher up the top 50 this year."
The list is produced by Great Place To Work, a global authority on workplace culture.
James Arrow, who joined Newmedica as managing director in early 2026, said:
"We proudly attended the Great Place to Work® awards ceremony in London. Being named 28th felt an incredible jump of 17 places from last year’s 45th place.
"Just weeks into my role as managing director, I’m thrilled to see Newmedica recognised as one of the UK’s best workplaces.
"This accolade speaks volumes about the incredible dedication and passion of our colleagues, who make Newmedica such an outstanding place to work every day."
Great Place To Work performed rigorous evaluations of hundreds of employee survey responses alongside Culture Audit submissions from leaders at each company to create the 2026 UK's Best Workplaces list.
They then used these data insights to benchmark the effectiveness of companies' employee value propositions against the culture their employees actually experience.
Only those businesses who achieve the highest scores after evaluation receive Best Workplaces status.
