Harrogate charity given SMART technology boost thanks to £3,800 foundation grant

Disability Action Yorkshire applied to the George A Moore Foundation and was rewarded with a £3,800 grant to fund a new SMART board.

A Harrogate charity’s training facility has been given a major technology boost, thanks to the long-lasting legacy of a Knaresborough born kitchen manufacturing magnate. Disability Action Yorkshire, which has its headquarters on the town’s Hornbeam Park, applied to the George A Moore Foundation for a grant for a new SMART Board and was rewarded with a £3,800 grant to fund its purchase. Disability Action Yorkshire Chief Executive Jackie Snape said:

“I would like to say a huge thank you to the George A Moore Foundation for this grant, which has enabled us to purchase this superb SMART Board. “We rely on the generosity of individuals, businesses and grant-giving organisations to help us fulfil our role supporting disabled people in achieving their life aspirations, whatever they may be. “One of our goals is to see more disabled people in the workplace. Our training service offers development in all of the skills required to gain paid employment or life skills, and the SMART Board will greatly assist in the delivery of these sessions.”
Angela James, George A Moore Foundation’s Chief Administrator, said:
“On average, each year we distribute grants totalling £250,000 to good causes across North and West Yorkshire, and I’m delighted we were able to award Disability Action Yorkshire £3,800 to buy this state-of-the-art interactive SMART Board. “Once Covid restrictions have been lifted further, I will be looking forward to visiting the Disability Action Yorkshire team in Harrogate, and see for myself how this technology is benefiting its learners and staff delivering the training programmes.”
