Harrogate adult learning centre launch brand new term of classes

Rossett Adult Learning in Harrogate are gearing up for a brand new term of online courses, from languages to crochet and everything in between.

Like many businesses, Rossett Adult Learning has had to adapt to the new Covid world. For those of you that don’t know, this well-established, self-funding, adult learning centre provides termly courses for anyone over 18 years old.

Whilst classroom-based learning has not been possible over the last year due to the Covid restrictions, the Rossett Adult Learning Team, led by Melissa Horberry, have found new ways to engage their many students in learning.

Those courses that could convert to online classes have done so and over the past year they have seen many of their 1600 students convert to online teaching, in everything from Art to Languages, Dressmaking to Gardening, Yoga and much more.

The tutors at the centre are all specialists in their field and have embraced the changing face of adult education with gusto and pride.

Learning online does come with its challenges of course, but those who once feared the internet and the dreaded technology now find themselves looking forward to meeting up with like-minded people once a week to learn and challenge themselves.

Many of their students have discovered that the new normal often suits them and have been encouraged to embrace new subjects during lockdown by joining other courses. With courses between £25 and £95, they are within reach of most budgets, and many students will agree money well spent.

Rossett Talks, formerly known to many as the Rossett Lectures, is also coming online on February 22nd. Students are signing up to take part in a new five talk series curated by Andy Ison.  These talks last for two hours on a Monday evening and include interesting topics such as “Secret Wartime Britain” and a “Zero Waste Society”.

Melissa hopes that the centre will return to classroom learning at the earliest opportunity. There may well be a hybrid offering for those classes that wish to remain online.

Everyone at Rossett Adult Learning believes in the importance of learning for pleasure and the recent lockdown periods have shown that the students have enjoyed and relied upon the benefit of regular and normal lessons in what has been a far from normal existence.

Due to the current success of the Spring 2021 programme, further classes are now being launched. These include Beginners language classes in Japanese, French, German, Latin, Italian, Greek and Spanish, Family History, Patisserie making, Gardening or why not try one of their crafty courses for easter? They also have a course led by a qualified solicitor on Making Wills, Power of Attorney, and Inheritance tax.

Further details can be found on their website and here - It's also not too late to join some of their existing courses at a pro-rata rate.

There has never been a better time to learn something new. Their courses are live lessons and available five days a week, day time, evenings and weekends too. Why not take the first step towards your next hobby or challenge and check out their website and become part of the Rossett Adult Learning family.

February classes start from w/c 22nd February.
