Firefighters have come to the rescue of a young calf which got stuck in a water storage tank at a farm near Ripon. It happened in the village of Kirkby Malzeard just after 4.30pm on Saturday afternoon. Fire crews from Ripon and Bedale went to the scene, and helped the farmer remove slurry and water from the tank. They then assisted the farmer and a vet with the recovery of the animal, which was hoisted out of the tank with the help of a tractor. It was a happy ending for the two month old calf, which was uninjured and released back into the field. Read more local stories from Your Harrogate here
