Rudding Park’s annual 10.5km race is back tomorrow (Tuesday) with hundreds of runners set for a picturesque jaunt through the hotel’s estate.
The Rudding ParkRace is back for a fourth year and will be supporting Rudding Park’s Charity of the Year, Saint Michael’s Hospice.
The course is a single marked loop of around 10.5km with a mixture of paths, woodland trails - and includes some technical areas.
Your Harrogate’s Nick Hancock will be on hand to roar on runners at the finish line - and the much-talked about goody bag is also making a return.
So ahead of the event, here’s everything you need to know…
Timings
Race HQ will open at 5.15pm at the Deerhouse (Race HQ) where participants should head to get their number.
The race will start at around 7pm, with the start line situated opposite HQ.
Please be ready in the ‘enclosed runner only area’ 10 minutes before the start.
Prize-giving will be at approximately 8.15pm.
The Course
The course is an undulated single loop, fully marked. Follow the tape, directions, signs or any instruction from the marshals.
Please take care and look out for roots, branches, uneven surfaces, stones etc.
Depending on weather conditions leading up to the race, trail shoes may be recommended.
There is a time limit of 1h 45mins - anyone who reaches the 5k mark after 55mins will not be allowed to continue and will be directed to the finish.
No dogs will be allowed on the course.
Spectating
There are numerous areas to spectate, however organisers have recommended:
Spectator Zone 1: The start
Spectator Zone 2: ‘The Italian Boot shape’
Spectator Zone 3: The Finish
The finish
Spectators will be gathered at the finish line, with a DJ on the balcony of Rudding House and drinks, a hog roast and ice cream available.
Prizes will be distributed for overall male/female winner, age categories and team winners, as well as the spot prizes.
Due to the nature of the course and start time, there is a cut off at 1 hour 45 minutes to complete the course.
Fundraising
This year's Rudding ParkRace is fundraising for Saint Michael's Hospice.
The event has raised more than £14,000 for charity since it started in 2022.
Charities that have received support from the event include Queen's Green Canopy, Leeds Hospital Charity and Rob Burrow Centre for Motor Neurone Disease.
