Covid vaccine rollout expands to everyone aged 60 and over in Harrogate district

Everyone aged 60 and over in the Harrogate district is now being offered a vaccination against Covid-19.

Everyone aged 60 and over in the Harrogate district is now being offered a vaccination against Covid-19. Local health bosses say the success of the vaccine roll out so far means they're now able to expand the age range. The latest figures show that almost 250,000 jabs have now been administered across North Yorkshire and York. Meanwhile, anyone who has been offered the vaccine in the last few months and decided not to take it for whatever reason, is being reminded that they can change their mind at any time and make themselves an appointment. In the Harrogate district, vaccinations are currently available at the Great Yorkshire Showground in Harrogate, Ripon Racecourse, and the former Lidl store in Knaresborough. NHS North Yorkshire Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) Accountable Officer, Amanda Bloor, said:

“We continue to encourage everyone who is invited for a vaccination to take up the offer to protect not only themselves but their families and loved ones.  “It’s also important that people attend for their second dose when the time comes to get the maximum protection offered by the vaccines currently being administered.  “We’re seeing high take-up of the vaccine in North Yorkshire and York, but if you were one of those in the first four priority groups who did not initially come forward it’s not too late if you’ve changed your mind – you can get in touch with the National Booking Service online or by calling 119 to get an appointment at one of the larger vaccination centres.  “In North Yorkshire and York we are on target to offer vaccinations to everyone in the nine priority groups by the middle of April. This wouldn’t be possible without the dedication and commitment of a lot of people, from our GPs, nurses and primary care teams to the vaccinators, car park marshals and numerous other volunteers. I would like to thank everyone who’s playing their part.”
