Coronavirus: lateral flow tests unavailable on government website

The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) has said they have had to temporarily suspend orders due to "exceptionally high demand."

Lateral flow tests for home-testing are currently unavailable on the government website. The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) has said they have had to temporarily suspend orders due to "exceptionally high demand." Those who have attempted to order the tests online have been met with the following message:

"Sorry, there are no more home tests available right now. Try again later. Or, you can go back and try to book a test site appointment instead."
The shortage comes just one day after the announcement that testing would be mandatory for anyone who comes into contact with a covid-19 case. When asked about the issue, Prime Minister Boris Johnson said:
"If you can't get one online [lateral flow test] for any reason, then there are ample supplies in the shops. "But what I think, if I may say so, what that also shows is that people are doing the sensible thing, and getting tests as well."
The covid rate of infection currently stands at 407 per 100,000 people, just above the North Yorkshire average of 382. Read more local stories from Your Harrogate here.
