A brand new live music festival to be held in Skipton later this year is giving local unsigned bands and artists the opportunity to perform on their main stage. The Gateways Festival, which is due to be held at Aireville Park from 6th-8th August, has already revealed big name headliners Razorlight and Feeder will be appearing among other well-known artists. And organisers have now launched a 'Battle of the Bands' competition to give local talent the opportunity to play one of four main stage slots. [caption id="attachment_7385" align="alignnone" width="2400"] The new Gateways Festival will take place at Aireville Park, Skipton[/caption] A Gateways spokesperson said:

"We had planned to do a live Battle of the Bands competition but unfortunately due to the Coronavirus pandemic we’ve had to make alternative arrangements. In place of the physical competition we’re now doing an online competition instead. "We’re delighted to be able to give local acts a platform to showcase themselves and what better way than sharing the same stage with some incredible bands."
The virtual Battle of the Bands competition will give acts from any musical genre the chance to play one of four main stage slots with two opening slots on Saturday 7th August and two opening slots on Sunday 8th August. To enter the competition and for more details, visit www.gatewaysfestival.co.uk/battle-of-the-bands. All applications must be submitted no later than 5pm on Thursday 8th April 2021.
