Bosses at Knaresborough vaccination centre say first week has gone 'really smoothly'

Knaresborough's new coronavirus vaccination centre has now been open for just over a week, and bosses say things have gone very well so far.

Knaresborough's new coronavirus vaccination centre has now been open for just over a week, and bosses say things have gone very well so far. The site at the former Lidl store on York Road is run by local company Homecare Pharmacy Services, and is the third vaccination centre to open in the Harrogate district, alongside the Great Yorkshire Showground in Harrogate and Ripon Racecourse. The Knaresborough site hopes to eventually scale up to be able to offer 1,400 jabs a day, every day, subject to a good supply of vaccines from the NHS. Bosses at the centre have thanked everyone who's been for a jab so far for helping to keep things running smoothly, with the vast majority of people turning up 5 minutes before their appointment time as requested. "It's gone absolutely fantastically well, really really smoothly, people are listening to what we've asked them to do in terms of arriving at the right time, we've said 5 minutes before your appointment and they're absolutely listening to that. "There aren't any queues because people are arriving at the right time and it's just flowing." "We're looking to be doing 1,400 jabs a day, every day of the week, that's our ultimate ambition, but it's all dependent on supply. "As social distancing allows, we'll hopefully have a choir on site, we've had the Knaresborough town crier visit us, we've got some people coming down with their musical instruments. "We've been waiting for this for a long, long time, and we all want to get back to some kind of normal, it's just fantastic that everybody is so supportive."
Meanwhile, there's been praise for the Knaresborough vaccination centre on the Your Harrogate Facebook page from some of the people who've been for their jabs. Gordon wrote:
"I went this afternoon and was very impressed by all involved the volunteers and the professionals"
Emma said:
"Impressed with my visit this morning. Everything went like clockwork and I was out again in a few minutes"
Mike added:
