Coppice Valley Primary School has announced that building work has now begun on its new on-site nursery, due to open in September 2026.
The school said that the development marks an “exciting step forward in the school’s commitment to offering high-quality early years education for local families.”
The nursery will be known as Little Ferns at Coppice Valley - a name to reflect ‘growth, curiosity and the nurturing environment the school is proud to provide’.
A new visual identity has also been created for Little Ferns, designed to sit alongside the existing Coppice Valley branding.
Headteacher Miss Hannah McNamara said:
“We are so excited to see our vision for Little Ferns take shape.
“Creating this space means children can join our school community even earlier, in a warm and welcoming environment where they can thrive from the very start.”
Little Ferns will offer 26 places for children aged 3–4, with September, January and Easter intake points each year (subject to availability).
The project includes transforming the former caretaker’s bungalow into a modern, purpose-built nursery space.
Samantha Shuttleworth, Estates Director at Red Kite Learning Trust, said:
“This development demonstrates our commitment to investing in excellent facilities for our schools.
“The new Little Ferns nursery will provide a fantastic start for the youngest learners in our community.”
Further details about opening hours and wraparound care will be shared in the coming months.
Families wishing to join the waiting list (without commitment or guarantee of a place) can contact the school at office@cvps.rklt.co.uk or on 01423 563760.
