It’s day two of the Great Yorkshire Show 2023 with visitors returning to Harrogate for one of the biggest agricultural events in the English calendar.
Wednesday 12th July: What's happening today at the Great Yorkshire Show? It’s day one of the 164th Great Yorkshire Show as visitors descend on Harrogate for one of the biggest agricultural events in the English calendar. The show will take place over the next four days and is expected to attract 140,000 visitors throughout the week. Organisers Yorkshire Agricultural Society are set to introduce a number of new additions to the show this year, as well as some old classics. Speaking after day one, Show Director Charles Mills said:
“We have had a wonderful start to the show, with a visit by HRH the Duke of Gloucester. "Some of the top industry leaders have here been looking at a variety of issues for both agriculture and the wider the rural sector and we have seen the first awards for some amazing winners in the show rings.”So what's happened today on Day Two? Main Ring: Irish Draught Ridden, Ladies Side Saddle (HOYS), Riding Horses (HOYS) and Scurry (Small Ponies) will all be taking place in the Main Ring today. Lizzie Jones will be performing again, as well as Lorenzo. And there’s also set to be the Best Soldier Presentation. GYS Stage The GYS Stage is back at this year’s show, hosted by presenter Christine Talbot. Christine will be back with BBC Countryfile star Adam Henson. This will then be followed by a book signing. Animal Rings: Cattle Rings: Continental Beef Breed classes, British Charolais National Show & classes, Dairy Breed classes Sheep Rings: MV & Non MV Sheep Breed classes Pig Rings: Traditional Pig Breed classes Goat Rings: Second Milking competition, Goatlings & Female Kids, Novice Goat Handler Competition New for 2023 All new for 2023, the Innovation Zone will. be showcasing new agricultural technology and research. There’s also set to be the Sheep to Chic Fashion Show on the Sheep Shearing Stage, hosted by Your Harrogate’s Nick Hancock.
