It’s day three of the Great Yorkshire Show 2023 with visitors returning to Harrogate for one of the biggest agricultural events in the English calendar.
Thursday 13th July: What's happening today at the Great Yorkshire Show? It’s day three of the 164th Great Yorkshire Show as thousands of visitors return to Harrogate for the biggest agricultural event of the year. There are just two days left of the four-day show and it's expected a total of 140,000 visitors will have been to the showground throughout the week. Organisers Yorkshire Agricultural Society have introduced a number of new additions to the show this year, as well as some old classics. Speaking after day one, Show Director Charles Mills said:
"Some of the top industry leaders have here been looking at a variety of issues for both agriculture and the wider the rural sector and we have seen the first awards for some amazing winners in the show rings.”So what's happening today on Day Three? Main Ring: The highlight in the Main Ring today will be the Cock O'the North Show Jumping competition which always draws in big crowds. There will also be the Grand Cattle Parade, judging of Blythewood Dairy Pairs and several equine classes. The ever-popular Lizzie Jones will be performing again, as well as Lorenzo. GYS Stage The GYS Stage is back at this year’s show, hosted by presenter Christine Talbot. Christine will be talking to TV presenter Matt Baker MBE. This will then be followed by a book signing. Animal Rings: Cattle Rings: Dairy Preliminary judging of Blythewood Pairs, Dairy Interbreed Group, Dairy Exhibitor Bred Pairs, Dairy Junior Championship, Dairy Supreme Championship, Beef Interbreed, Beef Junior Championship, Beef Supreme Championship, Grand Cattle Parade. Sheep Rings: Commercial Female Championship, MV & Non MV Accredited Supreme Championships, Overall Supreme Championship, Young Handlers (MV & Non MV) Pig Rings: BPA Pig of the Year Qualifier, Supreme Championship, BPA Pig of the Year Final, BPA Young Pig of the Year Qualifier, Young Stock Handler Competition Goat Rings: Yorkshire Dairy Goat Show: Milking Competitions Other highlights All new for 2023, the Innovation Zone will be showcasing new agricultural technology and research. There’s also set to be the Sheep to Chic Fashion Show on the Sheep Shearing Stage, hosted by Your Harrogate’s Nick Hancock. The Game Cookery Theatre will be cooking up a storm for visitors to sample, as well as the Cheese & Dairy Show and the Great Yorkshire Show Cookery Theatre.
