A new community café in Harrogate is hoping to become a welcoming hub for local residents of all ages - serving up coffee, conversation and companionship.
The Lounge Café at St Mark’s Church on Leeds Road has a resident host so that everyone coming to enjoy morning coffee or a light lunch is personally met and welcomed.
The café, located in the church’s former community room, offers ethically sourced speciality and filter coffees, hot chocolate and teas, savoury rolls and salad, cakes, tray bakes and teacakes.

It’s open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10am until 1:30pm, with last orders for lunches at 1pm.
Vicar Mike Resch said:
“We are incredibly excited for the future of The Lounge Café.
“We would like it to become the hub of local life, bringing people from all ages and backgrounds together giving older people, young mums and visitors to the town, a real sense of community and friendship.”
Regular events, ranging from talks, music and activities, are planned to foster friendships and promote wellbeing.
The first, aimed at seniors, is from Police Community Support Officers, Olivia Bigsby and Richard Northcott, giving advice on phone safety, scams and personal security.
It takes place at 10:30am on Tuesday 26th May.
