Simon Weaver hails Jack Evans after Harrogate Town exit

Jack Evans has left Harrogate Town to sign for Notts County.

Harrogate Town manager Simon Weaver has hailed fan favourite Jack Evans after the midfielder joined Notts County for an undisclosed fee.

The 25-year-old signed for Town from Halifax last Summer and would make 48 appearances for the club, captaining the team on multiple occasions.

Simon Weaver said:

“We’ve lost a really good player, I thought he was brilliant last year and a favourite among the fans.”

“An opportunity at a league one club cannot be dismissed by the player and we weren’t going to hold him and his career ambitions back if our valuation was met, which it was."

He added:

“Money isn’t everything of course, but we can sleep at night knowing the club has benefited, first of all from having his services for a year, but also financially."

“It had to be worth it for us, because the club always comes first, but we feel we have struck the right balance on this deal.

“He’s deserved a chance to play at a higher level than he was last year, he’s worked hard for this moment.”

They club said it would like to place on record its thanks to Jack for his efforts while at the club and wished him all the best for the remainder of his career.
