A new Christmas attraction is coming to the Great Yorkshire Showground in Harrogate this December.
Santa’s Polar Kingdom will open at the Great Yorkshire Events Centre from Friday 11th to Wednesday 23rd December, featuring an Elf Forest, Northern Lights, Santa Express and an Ice Kingdom.
Families will also be able to explore Santa’s village, workshop and the North Pole Post Office, alongside an interactive sleigh ride.
A Christmas market, funfair and Après Ski Bar will complete the experience.
The attraction forms part of a wider programme of festive events at the showground, including Christmas shopping, afternoon tea with Santa and party nights.
Graham Thompson, Commercial Director of Yorkshire Event Centre Ltd, said:
“Christmas is always exciting here at the Great Yorkshire Showground and we really have something for everyone this year!
“We know what a busy time of year Christmas is for everyone and we hope that having one destination for all your Christmas needs will make life simpler – and more enjoyable for everyone.”
Fodder, the Great Yorkshire Food Hall, will host its free Christmas Extravaganza from 5:30pm to 8pm on Thursday 19th November.
Visitors can meet local suppliers, watch butchery demonstrations and sample cheeses and other seasonal food and drink.
Complimentary mulled wine and mince pies will also be available.
The Great Yorkshire Christmas Fair will follow from Thursday 26th to Sunday 29th November, bringing together 180 companies at the Great Yorkshire Events Centre.
Stalls will sell festive food, decorations, gifts, toys, jewellery, beauty products and clothing.
The event will also feature a food hall, champagne bar, cafés and two licensed restaurants, with free parking on site.
Admission costs £5 for online early-bird tickets, rising to £7 online once the early-bird offer ends, or £9 on the door.
Santa will also visit Fodder for a festive afternoon tea from 4pm on Saturday 12th December.
The menu will include sandwiches, savoury bites and sweet treats, alongside tea or coffee, mulled wine for adults and juice for children.
Santa will visit every table, with each child aged up to 14 receiving a gift. Tickets cost £30 for adults and £15 for children aged up to 14.
Elsewhere on the showground, the Pavilions of Harrogate will host Christmas party nights and private celebrations, with festive menus featuring locally sourced produce.
Harrogate Christmas Tree Centre will also return from the end of November, selling Yorkshire-grown trees from its family-run business.
