Runners across the area are gearing up for the return of the annual Harrogate 10km race.
Organised by Harrogate Harriers and supported by Harmony Energy, the event is back on Sunday 29th June.
The race follows an undulating route that is approximately 70% tarmac road, with the rest on ‘good’ footpaths.
It’s been specifically designed to be suitable for all levels of runner, appealing to those contemplating their first race but also to seasoned club runners who are looking for a challenge.
Dan Atkinson, Race Director for the Harrogate 10k said:
"With a surge in social running, the stunning Crimple Valley backdrop, a top-tier event village buzzing with a party atmosphere, and the Harriers' long-standing reputation within the Northern running community, Harrogate Harriers and Harmony Energy are perfectly positioned to deliver a first-rate event that will inspire every type of runner.”
In anticipation of the event, the Harriers will further promote the 10k with a full "parkrun takeover" this coming Saturday (7th June) at Harrogate parkrun.
Ben Shacklock, Club Chair and a local GP, said:
"The mission of Harrogate Harriers is to 'Run Together, Compete with Spirit, Thrive as a Community.'
“Our involvement with parkrun embodies all of these principles.
“More than that, it encourages everyone to find community and purpose in a healthy environment that is welcoming to all, whether your goal is to compete at the front or to walk for five kilometres in a non-judgmental and supportive setting.
“As a GP serving the entire community and a runner myself, I deeply appreciate everything parkrun offers."
The Harmony Energy Run Harrogate 10k and Junior Fun Run will be held at Harrogate Sports and Fitness Centre on Hookstone Wood Road on Sunday 29th June.
