Northern warns commuters of midweek train strike

Northern has advised customers that services will be brought to a halt on Wednesday 4th October as the latest ASLEF strike takes place.

Northern warns commuters of midweek train strike Northern has advised passengers of a midweek strike next week that could affect commuters. On Wednesday 4th October, ASLEP strike action will be taking place and there will be no trains through Harrogate and Knaresborough throughout the day. It’s because ASLEF members – most of whom are employed as train drivers – will be staging their latest walk out. Additional disruption is expected from Monday 2nd to Friday 6th October due to action short of strike called by ASLEF. Customers are again advised to check before they travel as there may be some short notice cancellations to services running on these days. Tricia Williams, chief operating officer at Northern, said:

“We apologise in advance for the significant disruption and inconvenience this action by ASLEF will cause to our customers. "We hope to see a resolution to this issue in the near future and an end to the disruption these strikes cause."

Last week, Northern also warned that due to strike action there will be no services on Saturday 30th September.
