New postcard celebrates Harrogate's bid to become UK's Town of Culture

Harrogate's new postcard.

A new postcard celebrating Harrogate has been launched as part of the town's bid to become the UK's Town of Culture 2028.

Created especially for the competition, the postcard showcases what makes Harrogate unique – from its green spaces and spa heritage to its welcoming communities and vibrant cultural scene.

The message on the reverse is taken from the words of a visitor who stayed with the Mayor of Harrogate, Viv Poskitt, earlier this year.

Rather than writing a new message, Harrogate Town Council chose to feature the visitor's reflections on the town's beauty, friendliness and atmosphere, saying they capture what so many people love about Harrogate.

A spokesperson for Harrogate Town Council said:

“Created especially for our bid, the postcard celebrates everything that makes Harrogate unique – from our beautiful green spaces and rich spa heritage to our welcoming communities and thriving cultural life.”

The postcard was designed and submitted in just four days after the Department for Culture, Media and Sport invited towns across the UK to take part.

It has now been added to the official UK Town of Culture digital map alongside entries from other towns hoping to secure the 2028 title.

The postcard will also become part of the permanent collection at National Museums Liverpool, marking Harrogate's place in this stage of the competition.
