New bakery and café set to open in Harrogate

Gilt Bakehouse will open in Harrogate town centre next week.

A new bakery and café is set to open in Harrogate next week.

Gilt Bakehouse will launch on Monday (6th April) from its premises on Market Place, with regular opening hours set for Tuesday to Saturday between 8.30am and 3.30pm.

The café will specialise in a range of sweet and savoury tarts, alongside pastries and light lunchtime options.

And mark its opening, the business is running an Easter promotion, offering the first 25 customers who purchase a hot drink a free hot cross bun to take away.

Whole tarts will also be available to order for special occasions, and a small seating area will be available for customers who wish to eat in.

The venture has been set up by Rob Wainwright, who brings more than 20 years of culinary experience.

He said:

“I’m really excited to be able to bring my passion for menu design and creativity to this part of Yorkshire.

“Hidden away but just off the main high street of Harrogate, at 15a Market Place, we’re looking forward to welcoming you to this latest venture.”

Rob's career has included time working in London with Yotam Ottolenghi, as well as experience in Australia and running his own business, Gilt Patisserie, in Sheffield.

After relocating to the North, Rob says he is aiming to incorporate the influence of the Yorkshire countryside into his baking, with a focus on local produce and updated takes on traditional English recipes.
