Mascot Gold Cup at Wetherby Races raises £16,000 for charity

The Mascot Gold Cup at Wetherby Racecourse.

This year's Mascot Gold Cup at Wetherby Racecourse & Conference Centre has raised £16,000 for charity, organisers have announced.

The annual event, held as part of the racecourse’s Family Race Day, brought together mascots from across the UK and overseas to raise money for Sue Ryder and its care services.

The race was won by The Snooty Fox, with Leeds Rhinos mascot Ronnie the Rhino finishing second.

Lego Man, representing Tynedale RFC, took third place following a ‘dramatic finish.’

A spokesperson for the Mascot Gold Cup said:

“A brilliant day enjoyed by everyone – huge thanks to our hosts Wetherby Racecourse & Conference Centre who include us in their Family Race Day programme and to our sponsors, OPM Group.”

Among the other awards handed out on the day, Adryx received the Rome Airports Best Dressed Mascot title, while Mr & Mrs Pig from New York were named Most Entertaining Mascots.

A spokesperson for event added:

“A big thank you to everyone who took part, supported and cheered us on — we can’t wait to do it all again in 2027!”

Plans are underway for the next Mascot Gold Cup in 2027. Entries for the next race are now open via RaceBes
