Knaresborough paddling pool reopens to public

Knaresborough swimming pool at Bebra Gardens.

Families can cool off this summer in three well-maintained paddling pools after the final programme of improvements were made in Knaresborough.

The pool in Bebra Gardens opened to the public yesterday (Thursday).

It has remained closed after issues were identified during routine maintenance checks.

Following extensive surveys, the pool’s paint was stripped and the surface treated before a new coating was applied, and checks have also been carried out on the draining systems.

The paddling pool in Borrage Green in Ripon opened last week, which required the same treatment.

Another in Valley Gardens in Harrogate opened last month after being fully repainted, and a survey of the drainage system carried out.

North Yorkshire Council’s executive member for highways and transport, Cllr Malcolm Taylor, whose responsibilities include parks and grounds, said:

“We would once again like to thank families for their continued patience while essential refurbishments have been carried out to the three paddling pools.

“It has been a complicated process, with our teams working around the clock to open them as quickly as possible.

“With the summer holidays in full swing, we hope families visit the sites and cool off when the hot temperatures hit.”
