How do you like them apples? Visit Harrogate gets fruity for Harrogate’s Autumn Flower Show Visit Harrogate is bringing super seasonal vibes and fantastically fruity flavours to Harrogate’s 2023 Autumn Flower Show, which takes place at Newby Hall and Gardens from 15th – 17th September. All new for 2023, visitors will be able to pop along to Visit Harrogate’s Miniature Pop-up Orchard and “pick their own apple” for a chance to win prizes ranging from tasty fruit to an exciting Gardens Experience. Those taking part in the apple challenge will retrieve either a good apple (a specially embossed Visit Harrogate eating apple); a bad apple (meaning an unlucky no-win-this-time); or a distinctive golden apple, offering a day out at one of the Harrogate area’s fabulous formal gardens. The pop-up orchard reflects a taste of autumn in the gardens of the Harrogate area at this time of year, with events upcoming to celebrate nature’s bounty and the changing colours of the season. Beningbrough Hall, Gallery and Gardens, which reopened its rooms this summer following a £2.3m refurbishment project, hosts an Apple Harvest from 11th to 15th October, where visitors can learn more about the varieties of fruit that the gardens sustain. The Himalayan Garden and Sculpture Park near Masham celebrates autumnal edibles (and non-edibles) of a different kind with a Fungus Foray on 27th September, followed by an Autumn Harvest Day on 26th October. RHS Garden Harlow Carr is also gearing up for an Autumn Garden Weekend from 21st – 22nd October. An array of exhibitors and specialist nurseries will arrive at the 58-acre garden in Harrogate; ablaze with autumn colour; for talks and garden tours as well live music, food and drink, shopping and fun for all the family. Gemma Rio, Head of Destination Harrogate, said:
“It’s great to offer this enhanced experience to visitors coming to meet the Visit Harrogate team at the Autumn Flower Show this year. We’ll be there to encourage show visitors to extend their visit to the Harrogate area with trips to the wonderful gardens and garden attractions we have here. Whilst also encouraging them to come back to North Yorkshire for return visits. The apple challenge in our pop-up orchard is an interactive experience that offers show-goers something fun to do, with fresh and healthy flavours to taste while showcasing our fantastic formal gardens. It also reflects the season of autumn, which is a perfect time to visit or re-visit the Harrogate area, with topical events taking place in the gardens from RHS Harlow Carr to Fountains Abbey and beyond.”The Harrogate Autumn Flower Show takes place from 15th to 17th September.
