The first 'Maker’s Market' held in Harrogate last weekend has been hailed as a success.
The new market was created by the Business Improvement District (BID) and Real Markets to showcase a range of offers from independent businesses to a wider audience.
The first market, held on Sunday (15th June), received highly positive feedback from both local people and visitors.
One of the traders said:
“We had a great day! It was so stress-free, very straightforward with clear guidance.”
Another added that the market was well organised with good footfall and eager customers.
They said:
“It was a blast. Thoroughly enjoyed it and everyone was so lovely and helpful.
“It was a really good sell out as I did make a lot of stock. I got lots of positive comments from customers which was great too.”

The BID team are now looking ahead to more Maker’s Markets over the coming months.
Bethany Allen, Operations and Projects Executive at Harrogate BID, said:
“We were thrilled to be a part of delivering the first successful Maker’s Market.
“It’s a fantastic way to shine a light on the independent offer in Harrogate, as well as helping to drive footfall and spend into town on what is typically a quieter day of the week.
“We’d like to give a big thank you to the team at Real Markets, the local traders and customers for making this market a success.”
Lucy Allen, of Real Markets, said it’s been fantastic to see a plan come together to offer an initiative like this in Harrogate town centre.
She said:
“Our first Harrogate Makers Market was fantastic. We had very happy traders and customers.
“The atmosphere was wonderful and customers loved meeting and talking to the artists and producers – it makes a purchase that extra special when you can meet the maker.
“Harrogate Makers Market also perfectly complements our monthly Harrogate Farmers Market which has run successfully on Cambridge Street on the second Thursday of the month for 20 years.”
The next Maker’s Market will be held on Cambridge Street in Harrogate on Sunday 20th July – with plans to also host the markets on the third Sundays in August and September.
