A Harrogate woman has won a £1,000 cash injection as part of our 'Grand Place to Live' competition.
We asked entrants to tell us why they love living in the Harrogate district, with a prize of £1,000 up for grabs thanks to DoorsDirect.
Participants spoke about their love for Harrogate landmarks, its people and the wonderful independent businesses.
After hundreds of entries, our winner was named as Harrogate resident Sarah Barlow.
Your Harrogate's Pete Egerton visited Sarah at home to deliver the good news.
She said:
"Oh my god! You said that I was a finalist! That's amazing, thank you so much!
"You're going to make me cry... Thank you very much!"
When asked what she would spend the money on, Sarah said:
"My television in the lounge broke two days ago!
"So I'm borrowing my son's TV at the minute - it's not very big but I'm grateful of it. So I need to buy a new TV!"
The cash prize has been transferred directly into Sarah's bank account.
Speaking about Harrogate, she said:
"I have lived here all my life, we are very fortunate to live in such a beautiful place.
"We have the Valley Gardens for a lovely walk, Harlow Carr, The Stray - the list is endless, and also living here I know so many Harrogate people... everyone knows everyone!
"It’s a gorgeous spa town that many people travel for miles to visit that’s literally on our doorstep. Never take it for granted."
