Harrogate woman raises over £2,100 after double marathon challenge

Kristina Carr completed both London (right) and Leeds marathons.

A Harrogate woman has raised more than £2,100 for charity after completing two marathons in the space of two weeks.

Kristina Carr took on both the London Marathon on 26th April and the Leeds Marathon yesterday (Sunday) to support the NSPCC and Saint Michael’s Hospice.

She raised £1,687 for the NSPCC through the London Marathon, with additional fundraising bringing her total to more than £2,100 so far.

Speaking after completing the challenges, she thanked supporters for their donations and encouragement.

She said:

“Thanks to everyone who sponsored me, donated raffle prizes and attended my events.

"I really appreciate the support!”

Kristina described the back-to-back marathons as demanding but rewarding.

She said:

“Well that was horrific! Two marathons in two weeks!

"I loved London but not so much Leeds!"

Kristina works at The Woodlands in Harrogate, where she has hosted fundraising quizzes and raffles.

Explaining her motivation for running the London Marathon in aid of the NSPCC, Kristina said the charity’s work helping vulnerable children and families was an important cause.

She said:

“Every child deserves a safe, happy childhood — and sadly, that isn’t the reality for so many.”

She has raised £435 towards a £500 target for Saint Michael’s Hospice through the Leeds Marathon challenge.
