A Harrogate toy retailer is giving customers a discount every time Harrogate Town's Brad Dolaghan scores.
Toynado, which is sponsoring the striker this season, has linked his performances to its website - with each goal triggering an extra 10% off everything for 24 hours.
One goal means 10% off, two means 20% and a hat-trick would give shoppers a 30% discount.
The scheme was put through its paces on Saturday (26th September), when Brad scored twice in Town’s 4–1 win over Eastleigh.
His first goal at 3.06pm triggered a 10% discount, before his second doubled the saving to 20%. The offer ran until 3.06pm on Sunday.
Nat Southworth, of Toynado, said:
“We wanted to do something different with our sponsorship and create a genuine connection between supporting a Harrogate player, supporting the club and giving something back to local families.”
The business says it has built technology that follows Harrogate Town matches, detects Brad’s goals and automatically updates the offer on its website.
The 24-hour countdown begins with his first goal, with any further goals increasing the discount without changing the expiry time.
Nat said:
“Harrogate-based toy retailer Toynado is sponsoring Town player Brad Dolaghan this season — but rather than treating the sponsorship as simply putting our name alongside a player, we've built his performances directly into our website.”
And while more goals will be good news for Town supporters and shoppers, Nat joked that the arrangement could prove costly for the retailer.
He added:
“It also means we've created ourselves a slightly unusual problem — the better Brad plays, the cheaper our toys become!”
