Harrogate Theatre is set to host a gala later this month as part of its 125th birthday celebrations.
The event, titled A Night at the Theatre, will be held on Friday 25th July and will bring together six of the town’s leading community theatre groups.
It’s all in support of the theatre’s ambitious £125,000 fundraising campaign.
In a time of rising costs and shrinking public funding for the arts, Harrogate Theatre, like many venues across the country is fighting to remain sustainable.
The goal of raising £125,000 will help safeguard the future of the theatre, ensuring it continues to be a place where creativity, culture, and community thrive for generations to come.
Taking place at Harrogate Theatre, this one-night-only celebration will feature a diverse lineup of performances from across the local community theatre scene.
Audiences can expect an exciting mix of musical theatre and drama, showcasing the talent of Harrogate Dramatic Society, Harrogate Phoenix Players, Harrogate St Andrew’s Players, HOPS Musical Theatre Company, RAOS Musical Theatre Company and Woodlands Drama Group.
The event will be showcasing songs from Evita, Sister Act, Kinky Boots, Calamity Jane, Shrek the Musical, &Juliet and excerpts from 23 Hill End Lane, Glorious and more.
Chief Executive of Harrogate Theatre, David Bown said:
“Bringing together our six community theatre companies on our 125th anniversary year is more than a celebration, it’s a testament to the strength and passion behind Harrogate’s community theatre scene.
“We are incredibly grateful for all of their support and look forward to many more wonderful community productions coming to the theatre for years to come.”
The event has been coordinated by Jackie Bell.
She said:
“All the community groups are really excited to be performing together to support Harrogate Theatre.
“It’s a rare chance to see so many local groups on the same stage on the same night, making this a special event that really shouldn’t be missed.”
