A Harrogate ukulele band has donated £8,700 to Saint Michael's Hospice after another successful year of fundraising performances.
The Harrogate Spa Town Ukes raised the money through more than 50 performances during the last financial year, with band leader Steve Bullock presenting the cheque to Sandra Gilbert from Saint Michael's Hospice at the charity's Open Gardens event on 12th July.
The group has supported Saint Michael's Hospice since it was formed 12 years ago and has now raised more than £18,000 for the charity over the last three years.
Sandra Gilbert, from Saint Michael's Hospice, said:
"At Saint Michael's, we know that behind every gift of support is someone who cares deeply about their community.
"We are incredibly thankful to the Harrogate Spa Town Ukes for their generosity and dedication.
"Their ongoing support will help us continue providing comfort, care and support to local people and their loved ones when it matters most."
Known for their energetic vintage rock and pop performances, the Spa Town Ukes regularly entertain audiences across the Harrogate district, performing at care homes, public concerts and even making two appearances at Ripon Cathedral.
The band's bass player, Rob Lloyd, added:
"We all enjoy the combination of having great fun whilst being able to contribute to such a worthy cause – and to actually make a difference."
The band remains as busy as ever, with more than 40 bookings already confirmed this year, including performances at the Ripley Food Festival and the Harrogate Autumn Flower Show at Newby Hall.
