Harrogate Railway Ladies Day to fundraise for former player's life-saving treatment Harrogate Railway will be hosting a Ladies Day fundraising event this weekend to help a former player receive life-saving treatment. Dee Swales was diagnosed with breast cancer last year but following chemotherapy, a mastectomy and radiotherapy, the next stage of her treatment - SABR radiotherapy - is not available on the NHS. And in order to help her raise the £11,000 needed, Harrogate Railway will be hosting a Ladies Day event this weekend with football, raffles, BBQ's and more. The event will run from 12pm to 5pm on Sunday (6th August) at Station View. Money raised will go towards Dee's treatment and charities Macmillan and Cancer Research. Richard Burns, Harrogate Railway Ladies Manager, said:
"Ladies Day will be a real celebration, bringing the junior ladies girls all the way through to the senior ladies with two fantastic games of football and some fun penalty shootouts at half time as well. "It’ll be a real celebration of ladies football. It’s our first attempt but we wish to keep it going further forward."[caption id="attachment_74023" align="aligncenter" width="940"] Ladies Day will be held at Harrogate Railway this weekend.[/caption] Speaking about former player Dee, Richard said:
