Harrogate prep school shortlisted for School of the Year A Harrogate school has been shortlisted as the 'Prep School of the Year' in the Independent School of the Year Awards 2023. Highfield Prep School is a finalist for the award which celebrates independent school education and showcases the student experience that pupils receive. The Independent Schools of the Year awards were created by the team at Independent School Parent magazine and are now well-established as the independent school sector’s leading awards programme. The school won the coveted Eco-Schools Green Flag last year for its efforts towards sustainability and climate change. Mr James Savile, Head Teacher of Highfield, said of the award:
“Earning an Eco-Schools Green Flag takes passion, commitment and a desire to make a difference. Pupils should be proud of their great work. “They’re an inspiration and it makes us all feel heartened and positive about the future of our planet.”The school have also been fundraising for local worthwhile causes in recent times. Pupils donned odd socks as part of World Down Syndrome Day and took part in the national reading scheme ‘Read for Good’. They raised £342 for the Odd Sock appeal, £580 for Macmillan, and an incredible £1,260 for their ‘Readathon’ which was supported by older girls from Harrogate Ladies’ College.
