The children at Little Crickets Pre-School in Harrogate had a special visitor this morning (Wednesday).
Spike the Road Safety Hedgehog surprised the children alongside Caroline from Open North Yorkshire, offering road safety advice for children aged 3 and 4.
The children sang Spike a song about how to cross the road and talked about why we need to ‘stop, look and listen.’
Spike then took the children outside to see their road-crossing skills in action.
Little Crickets Pre-School Manager Rebecca said:
“Here at Little Crickets we love for our learning to be exciting and memorable.
“Every day is different and full of adventure.
“We loved having Spike visit us and look forward to him coming back to see us soon.
“Road safety is an important part of our curriculum and it’s a great way to make the learning fun!”

One girl, aged 4, said:
“Spike put his thumbs up. It was funny!”
A boy, aged 3, added:
“Stop, Look and Listen before you use your toes.”
Little Crickets Pre-School still has a few places remaining for September 2025.
