Emily Lethaby, 31, will travel to China to trek 100km along remote sections of the Great Wall over five demanding days as part of the CoppaTrek! challenge with Giovanna Fletcher.
The trek will include steep climbs, thousands of uneven steps and difficult terrain, pushing her far beyond anything she has done before.
Emily, who lives in Harrogate with her husband James and their cocker spaniel, Pepe, is taking on the challenge to raise money for CoppaFeel!, the UK charity dedicated to the early detection of breast cancer.
Cancer has affected Emily’s family personally, including her dad’s diagnosis with prostate cancer, which highlighted to her just how life-changing early diagnosis can be.
She is aiming to raise £4,000 for the charity.
Between now and September, Emily is organising a series of fundraising events including raffles, auctions and a charity tennis tournament at Harrogate Spa Tennis Club.
She will also be training alongside a group of fundraisers led by Giovanna Fletcher and other celebrity captains taking part in the CoppaTrek!
She is encouraging local businesses and individuals to get involved by making a donation, providing raffle prizes or gift vouchers, sponsoring the trek, or sharing her fundraising page.
Sponsors will have their company logo displayed on Emily’s trekking clothing throughout her training, fundraising events and during the challenge itself, along with acknowledgement across social media updates.
Emily said:
“I wanted to take on something completely out of my comfort zone to raise as much money as possible for a charity that saves lives through early detection.
“If sharing my story encourages even one more person to check themselves or helps raise more funds for CoppaFeel!, it will be worth every step.
“This Great Wall trek is about pushing myself to the limit for a cause that matters deeply. It’s about standing with everyone affected by cancer, helping to spread life-saving awareness, and showing that together we really can make a difference.”
