Harrogate College is inviting former students and staff to share their memories before its current building is demolished next year.

The college will host an ‘End of an Era’ event at Hornbeam Park on Thursday 3rd December, ahead of its move into a new £22million building at the same site.

The evening will celebrate 41 years in the existing building, with photographs, displays and videos reflecting on its history.

Principal Danny Wild said:

“We have been operating from here for 41 years, and we know this building has played a major role in the lives of so many people and businesses in Harrogate, North Yorkshire and beyond.

“So, as we look forward to starting an exciting new chapter in our new home, it is fitting that we should also pay tribute to our existing base and remember and celebrate its accomplishments.

“That is why we are asking for anybody with a link to the college to come along and join us on the evening of Thursday 3 December when we will be sharing submitted photographs, displays, videos and more from across the years.

“Running from 5 to 7pm, this will be a great chance to reminisce together and share fond memories and stories. Visitors will also be able to go on a tour of the building and sample some canapes provided by our Hospitality students.”

Among the exhibits will be a film exploring the history of the college’s main building, produced by former student Reece Longden as part of his MA Creative Practice degree at University Centre Leeds.

Anyone with a connection to the campus can sign up to attend through Eventbrite. Those with photographs or other items they would like displayed are asked to bring or send them to the college by 30th October.

The new campus is supported by £20million of Department for Education funding and will provide facilities designed to meet North Yorkshire’s priority skills needs.

It will include a teaching block, digital technology suite, replica hospital ward, electric vehicle workshop and a standalone Clean Energy Centre.

Teaching in the new facilities will begin on Monday 4th January 2027, with demolition of the old building starting during the same week.
