A director at a Harrogate disability charity has raised more than £1,000 ahead of her sponsored skydive.
Finance director Sarah Davis will take on the skydive to raise money for Artizan International, a charity which supports people with disabilities through therapeutic arts and crafts workshops, work skills training and social enterprise.
Sarah is visually impaired after her mum contracted Rubella during pregnancy.
She worked as an Operations Leader at IBM for 26 years and made the move to Artizan four years ago.
Sarah said:
“We all want a purpose and to belong and Artizan International is such an inclusive and joyous place to work.
“Seeing our trainees grow and thrive and the staff and volunteer teams filled up by the work and atmosphere we have built, is just incredible.“
Sarah was due to make her skydive on Friday (25th April) but it was postponed due to high winds.
She said the aim of her skydive is not only to raise funds for the organisation, but to also share the message that disability should not hold you back or define you.
UK Director Liz Cluderay said:
“Funders love to support projects and purchase materials and equipment but no one wants to fund the core costs of a charity so paying the rent and keeping the lights on is a real challenge.”
Elisa Belluati of Artizan Cafe said:
“Sarah is one of the pillars of Artizan and is an incredible lady.
“My boss is better than yours!”
