Harrogate care team triumph at Great British Care Awards A Harrogate care organisation is celebrating success following the Great British Care Awards 2023. The Harrogate branch of Carefound Home Care had six finalists at the prestigious awards and were announced as winners of the Palliative Care Award. The Carefound team attended the Yorkshire & Humberside regional finals at the Royal Armouries in Leeds. Karen Crampton was named as winner of the Palliative Care Award, recognising the excellence she has demonstrated in providing end of life care to older people in their own homes. Commenting of Karen’s award, the judges said:
“Karen’s love for working with individuals at the end of life effervesced throughout the interview. She is currently training as a ‘death doula’ and will be part of a small group of people that hold this qualification. “She uses her own neurodiversity to help her in her job and her many life experiences and challenges she has used positively to continue to motivate her. A truly inspirational lady, this award is well deserved.”Leonnie Martin was also recognised as highly commended for the Workforce Development Award. It reflected her commitment to building a leading induction and training programme at Carefound Home Care and ensuring the needs of all learners are met as they progress along their career pathway.
