Harrogate care home welcomes children for teddy bears' picnic

Residents at Harcourt Gardens in Harrogate.

Residents at a care home in Harrogate have enjoyed a bear-y special afternoon with local children.

Care UK’s Harcourt Gardens, on Harcourt Road, hosted residents great grandchildren for a fun-filled teddy bears’ picnic.

The little ones brought their favourite cuddly toys along to join in with the residents and enjoy a host of tasty picnic treats and refreshments, including strawberries and cream, and sandwiches brought by Paddington.

After the picnic, it was time to get into the sporting spirit.

The children and residents took part in a range of tennis-themed activities, including balloon tennis, to mark the end of the iconic tournament.

Daniel Cole, Home Manager at Harcourt Gardens, said:

“We had a lot of fun hosting our picnic and it was great to see so many teddy bears in attendance! It was a wonderful opportunity for the residents to share fond memories of their childhood.

“We also loved seeing everyone get involved and celebrating the end of this year’s Wimbledon. It was a lovely end to a smashing day!

“Intergenerational activities like this are so important, as they help residents to stay engaged socially by interacting with the local community. We’d like to thank everyone for coming by and helping make this day so memorable.”

Harcourt Gardens provides full-time residential, nursing and dementia care, as well as short-term respite care.

The home incorporates plenty of space for hobby and leisure activities and has its own cinema, pub and hair and beauty salon.
