Great Holiday Home Show organisers raise £70,000 for children’s charity An annual dinner held by the organisers of the Great Holiday Home Show has raised a staggering £71,955 for Yorkshire Children’s Charity. Guests from across the holiday home and leisure sector donned their finery at the culmination of The Great Holiday Home Show for an evening of glitz and glamour, at a James Bond themed ball held at the Pavilions of Harrogate on the showground. Comedian Omid Djalili entertained over 400 guests who later danced the night away to band, Flat Cap Brass. Guests dug deep in support of the charity, raising an amazing £71,995 over the course of the evening, every penny of which will support Yorkshire’s most disadvantaged children this winter. They heard from Yorkshire Children’s Charity beneficiary Linda, who was recently given new winter coats and shoes for her two young granddaughters of whom she has full custody. The cost-of-living crisis is hitting families hard across our region and Linda’s story highlighted just how much many parents and carers are sacrificing to make ends meet, while struggling to even afford the everyday essentials that so many of us take for granted. Charlotte Farrington CEO of Yorkshire Children’s Charity said:
“A huge thank you goes to everyone who donated, pledged, and took part in the silent auction on the evening. Your generosity will go a long, long way. "We’re also incredibly grateful to the event sponsors who made such a wonderful evening happen.”Richard Jones, Chairman of HERCMA (organisers of the charity dinner and the Great Holiday Home Show) said:
“We were delighted to support this important regional charity in the terrific work they do to help disadvantaged children and we are grateful to our donors and sponsors for their support.”Sponsors include: Al-Ko, Bayram Timber, Belfield Home and Leisure, DC Advisory, DLL, DOMAPP, Gateway Chassis Solutions, Eltherington Leisure, MKM, Morco, Simplex and Yorkshire Plywood. More details about the Great Holiday Home Show will be announced in due course as the event was held at the Great Yorkshire Showground for the first time in September after running at the The Lawns in Hull since 1976. It is organised by HERCMA the Hull and East Riding of Yorkshire Caravan Manufacturers’ Association. Read more local stories from Your Harrogate here.
