Goldsborough Hall won gold and was named 'category winner' at the Yorkshire in Bloom Awards 2023 last night.
Goldsborough Hall wins gold at Britain in Bloom Awards Goldsborough Hall won gold and was named 'category winner' at the Britain in Bloom Awards 2023 last night (Thursday). The luxury stately home won in the Medium Business category at the awards which celebrate beautiful landscapes across the county. A spokesperson for Goldsborough Hall said they were "thrilled and delighted" to have been recognised and praised Head Gardener Mark Waller for an "amazing achievement." Judges said the gardens at Goldsborough Hall had "real pedigree." They said:
"The Hall was bought by Clare and Mark Oglesby in 2005 and since then they have supported the gardens being renovated along with the skills and talents of Mark. "Developments include replanting the 120 foot herbaceous border, planting an incredible 140 different types of snowdrops, the extensive kitchen garden and glasshouse containing many exotics."[caption id="attachment_80817" align="aligncenter" width="1024"] Britain in Bloom awards 2023.[/caption] They added:
"There are various features around the site including a woodland garden, shade garden, several Champion trees and a terrace area with borders planted up with the appropriately named Rosa Yorkshire Princess. "In conjunction with the horticultural focus, the local wildlife are also encouraged, giving another dimension to this horticultural haven."Britain in Bloom is assessed by local judges on criteria developed by the RHS, including horticultural know-how, community engagement, efforts to bolster biodiversity and climate change adaptation.
