Following lots of speculation, it's been confirmed that Kiefer Sutherland is currently filming in Knaresborough.
The actor has been spotted in the town whilst shooting upcoming holiday film ‘A Proper English Christmas.’
Film crews are currently in place in the car park at Conyngham Hall and will be filming on Waterside, Castlegate and Green Dragon Yard.
Kiefer Sutherland will star in the film, having most recently played Larry Lasker in Clint Eastwood’s courtroom drama ‘Juror #2’ and Nixon in Netflix’s dark comedy ‘They Cloned Tyrone.’
Not much is known about ‘A Proper English Christmas’ other than Knaresborough will play the role of the “cozy English village” which is “bustling with preparations for its grand holiday celebrations.”
It's also been rumoured that Rebel Wilson and Danny Dyer will star in the film - although these rumours are unconfirmed.
One business owner who is happy to see the cameras back in town is Alex Chaytor from the Black Mulberry.
Alex told Your Harrogate:
“We’re really excited to have another Christmas film being made here in town. There’s a real buzz on waterside.
“They’re going to be down here filming only a few doors along from us for the next three days, so it’s really exciting to see lots of people out and about and wanting to see what’s going on.”
Alex said that Knaresborough featuring in films previously has only benefitted local businesses.
She added:
“So many customers come from outside the area because they’re seen the Christmas film that’s already been made, they’ve seen Jane McDonald riding a bike along waterside, they’ve seen Susan Calman over at Mother Shipton’s Cave.
“Anything else that highlights the beauty of Knaresborough can’t be bad for the town.”
