Harrogate village voted among '50 best villages in the UK'

The village of Hampsthwaite, located five miles north-west of Harrogate, has been included in The Times list of '50 best villages in the UK'.

A village in the Harrogate district has been voted among the '50 best villages in the UK'. The village of Hampsthwaite, located five miles north-west of Harrogate, has been included in the list created by The Times. The criteria for those who made the shortlist includes "attractive houses, good connections, a decent school and friendly neighbours who come together at the pub, shop and village hall." The report had this to say about Hampsthwaite:

"With the rugged Yorkshire Dales in one direction and swanky Harrogate in the other, this is the ideal location for anyone seeking country living with luxury close at hand. "The stone houses around the village green are a delight, the Joiners Arms offers Theakston Best Bitter and Sophie’s coffee shop has pie or a homemade flapjack (vegan version available) on sale, the perfect reward after Pilates, Zumba or a yoga class at the village hall."
Hampsthwaite was just one of two villages in North Yorkshire to be included in the list alongside Hovingham in Ryedale. Read more local stories from Your Harrogate here.
