Everything you need to know about this year's Bonfire on the Stray

Here's all the details you need for Harrogate's annual bonfire on the Stray which will be returning to the town next month.

Everything you need to know about this year's Bonfire on the Stray Harrogate’s annual bonfire on the Stray is gearing up to return next month. Organised by Harrogate Round Table, the highly-anticipated event regularly attracts thousands of spectators to the Oatlands Stray. This year it’s set to be held on Saturday 4th November. Here’s everything you need to know… Timings The annual event will be held on Saturday 4th November, running from 5pm until 8:30pm. As always, it will be held on the Oatlands Stray near St Aidan’s CE High School. The bonfire is expected to be lit at around 6:30pm followed by a fireworks display at around 7:15pm. Entertainment There will be live music to entertain visitors, including the Three Strikes Band who are confirmed to return for a second year running. More acts will be announced in the coming weeks. Your Harrogate’s Nick Hancock will also be on stage between performances and to introduce the fireworks. Food and Drink Refreshments will be provided by local scouts again this year. The group will be supplying burgers, sausages, hotdogs and vegetarian options, as well as a selection of hot and cold drinks. Proceeds from the food and drink are the only form of income for the scout groups involved. There will also be a licensed bar run by Vintage Event Bars, serving a selection of alcoholic drinks. Charity The Harrogate Stray Bonfire is a charity event and all money raised will be going to the Harrogate Homeless Project. Matthew Firth, one of the organisers for this year's event, was keen to support the charity for a second consecutive year. He said:

“It is important that we help end homelessness on the streets of Harrogate, especially going into Winter when the mercury regularly drops below freezing and these poor people, often through no fault of their own, end up on the streets.”
Harrogate's Bonfire on the Stray is made possible by the support of the public. Donations can be made on the night of the bonfire by either putting cash in collection boxes or by using one of the card machines available. People can also donate £5 by texting BONFIRE to 70560 or by going to the event’s GoFundMe page here. Read more local stories from Your Harrogate here.
